When I think of a beach town and or read my fictional books that take place in a beach town, I picture/assume run-down looking infrastructure due to the high winds and storms that take place in the ocean-front towns. When I say run down though I don’t mean pristine, modern-day housing, I mean low-key, relaxed, wooden, sunburnt colored shacks, etc, that are cozy, homey, and take you away from any city-like feel. It’s a place that you would imagine is only in movies or in my case, books.
That’s Miramar beach to me.
Located just East of Destin, next to Emerald Waters is a little quaint beach town called Miramar. It’s one of the top beaches on 30A to visit, explore and relax on. I want to highlight the keyword beach town for those who will confuse Destin with a beach town and Miramar as a beach town. If you want nightlife, and party time then Destin is the ideal place for that. However, if you are wanting some serious zen and peace whilst not knowing what the time is, then Miramar is your favourite fictional town coming to life. I’m currently reading No Judgements by Meg Cabot and it made this stay 10x better as it takes place in a fictional town called Little Bird Island inspired by Florida during Hurricane season… I’ll say no more. Nonetheless, my inner book nerd has been on cloud nine!
Throughout this trip, I went to and stumbled upon must-see food, places to adventure, and beaches to explore as there are also so many places to see, eat at and explore. So, I have chosen my top places that I would love nothing more than to share with you. Note that I’m not a touristy kinda gal. I’m the one who wants to go where the locals go and explore that culture since it can feel very commercialized at times and being on the beach, I want anything but that.
