Despite the consistent warm weather Colorado has been having, Autumn is going to happen whether leaf peeping is a quick window or a long one. You can plan all you want whilst visiting Colorado or preparing for your leaf-peeping adventures but nonetheless, you don’t want to miss this epic bloom of the gold, yellow, reds, and oranges of the Aspen trees. But be ready to drop everything and run because sometimes the leaves only last for a weekend and that’s it.
I hate to say it but from my experience, it’s better than a Bob Ross painting… However, with the anticipated (almost seems like a holiday event) welcoming Fall weekend(ish) experience, why not try out a hike to immerse yourself in the vast gold waves of nature surrounded by the crisp Colorado air.
Here are 12 hikes for your liking varying in three different skill levels to enjoy for this leaf-peeping season. Most trails are dog-friendly of course, so the furry family member has to join but please pick up after them. Don’t be that person who leaves the poo on the trail wrapped in a bag or even better just plopped right in the middle of the trail. Pick up after them!
Leaf peeping dates to look out for: Sept 17-Oct 25. But the best way to accurately track is through Instagram using the hashtags #leafpeeping #coloradoleafpeeping #leafpeepingcolorado .
